Kids asleep - check
Running clothes on - check
Procrastinating by playing on Facebook - check
Finally got on the treadmill - check
Fortunately, the Kiddo and Hubby are both doing better. The hubby can finally eat some food again and the Kiddo is not running to the bathroom every hour...in fact, she was doing great until we switched her from water to Gatorade. Yeah, her tummy was not ready for that yet. Poor baby! Thankfully, the Munchkin and I are both fine so far...I'm just hoping it stays that way.
I really, really didn't feel like running! But I figured I'd better run while I can, since I don't know what tomorrow will bring with the illnesses in our house!
The schedule gave us 2 options:
1) 60-65 easy followed by lots of stretching
2) 3 min hard followed by 1 minute fast (10x), then 10 minutes easy cool down
I choose option 2. I started with a 5 minute warm up, then got right into the intervals. The result was 4 miles at a 10:02 pace (40:08)! I think this is my fastest set of intervals on the treadmill so far...yeah, this is "fast" for me. :-) I followed with a 1 mile cool down, which actually put me over the 10 minute cool down on the schedule.
It felt great to hammer out those miles...stress relief at it's best!

Return of the late night dreadmill.
No Y membership means no lunchtime runs, which also means I will be doing my runs on the treadmill at home after the kiddos are asleep. Yuck.
I don't know why I'm whining, because I've been doing this for years. But, that doesn't make it any more fun and therefore I will continue to whine!
Anywho, the hubby ended up not going to his Hapkido and Jiu Jitsu classes tonight. I know, you're thinking, "Great, then that means you could have run outside, right?" Not this time. The hubster has a pretty bad stomach flu (at least I hope that's all he has!). In fact, it's so bad that I think I will be sleeping on the couch tonight. I don't want to get whatever he has, and I certainly don't want to pass it on to the kids! So, I hopped on the treadmill after about 45 minutes of procrastination and managed to get in 6-miles...I was still running when the 10 o'clock news came on...and if you know me, this is when I usually stop. But kept going - I had a 1/2 mile left to go. And, I think I actually had a negative split (if that's even possible on a treadmill). All I know is that last mile was at a 10 minute pace, because I was just ready to get this run done!
10:33 pace, 1:03:18
The bad thing about running on the treadmill at home is that I can find so many other things to do instead of running. And, while I'm running I can think of things to do. For example, I take sips of water much more frequently than when I am on the road or at the Y. Or, my neck will get all sweaty, so I'll hop off the treadmill real quick to grab a ponytail holder from the kiddos room. Or, I'll stop to go adjust the thermostat or turn on the fan.
Really, I have to stop this crap and just run!
Ugh!

4-miles. Done.
I couldn't believe it - the kiddo went right to sleep last night! That meant there was time for me to get all the lunches and clothes ready for the next day - and I could be on (and off) the treadmill at a reasonable time! Yippee! This was a very good thing, because yesterday's goal was to run 4 miles. Most of the time, the kiddo doesn't want to cooperate at bedtime and I can only manage to get in about 20 minutes on the treadmill before the 10 o'clock news comes on.
The run felt great. I did a 1 mile warm-up at about a 10:40 pace, the next 2.0 miles were around a 10:10 pace, then a gradual cool down. I am finding that it's getting easier and easier to stay in the lower 10-minute range for longer periods. I am a slow runner, I know that...but I feel like I am making some progress. That's the crazy thing that triathlon training has done for me - it has kept me from getting burnt out on the running. Being able to swim and bike during the week and only run 3 days per week has been great. When I do finally run, I am more willing to give it my all. When I am only focusing on running, I have a tendency to just "get'er done" sometimes. Not really give it my all, just go through the motions and get the runs done. I would love to know how my times compare to last year, but for some reason I chose not to record my pace times. Must have been pretty bad...then again, I was finishing grad school and just had a baby too. LOL! Anyway, I do feel stronger than last year - that much I know. :-)

Not so bad
I got my arse back on the dreadmill last night...that's the only thing that sucks at our house right now - dreadmill time. The hubby works nights, so he starts getting ready for work around 8 pm, leaves around 9 pm and works from 10 pm - 6 am. I'd much rather run outdoors, but by the time it is getting cooler outside, the hubby is getting ready for work and I have to get the kiddos into bed. I could run earlier, but that cuts into my time with the kiddos and hubby. I can't go out for an early morning run, because the hubby isn't home until it's almost time for me to leave for work.
So....the dreadmill it is!
Better than nothing I suppose.
To be honest, the dreadmill run was not that bad. Did I just love being on the run again? No! But, it felt good to get the heart rate going and to see the calories ticking away on the screen.
I've decided that I will try to get on the bike more (a friend and I are meeting up after work once a week to bike beginning next week), work on my horrible swimming and continue to train for the 1/2.
I also want to continue the remainder of the 90 days in my P90X cycle...I am loving P90X!
So, I will go to the Woodlands Fit run on Saturday. Let's face it, I am a total social runner. I don't mind running so much when I have peeps to talk to. The only problem is that it's a 5-6 mile run and so far, I haven't run farther than 3 miles this season. Oh, and that was almost 2 weeks ago. I don't know if I can hang for the entire distance. I may, or most likely will, be at the back of the pack and walking a lot at the end. P90X does include lots of cardio, but it's completely different than running!
So, that's it for now. I need to get to Luke's for some new shoes asap!

Finally!
After a week-long hiatus, I got back on the treadmill last night! It was 10 pm and I only did 30 minutes at a pretty slow pace while watching the news, but the best part was that I didn't get that painful side stitch! Woohooo! The mid-term is officially done, otherwise I would have been studying at 10 pm.
Tonight is the hubby's night off from work, so it's his turn to put the kiddo to bed. That means I will have time for another treadmill walk!
It's official, we will be closing on the new house one week from today! I'm so excited, but at the same time I am overwhelmed. Between work and school, I have no clue how we're going to get our packing done. (And, going out of town for a few days next week for work is certainly not helping matters!) Fortunately, we're not in a huge hurry to get out of our current house, so that's good. But of course, since we now will have a mortgage payment on the new house, I want to be using and enjoying the new house! Some of you know, we live in a tiny house right now. The new one is almost 3x as big, so we will have almost no furniture at first. In fact, we are pretty much going to wait until our current house sells to buy furniture...who knows how long that will take!?!?! Of course, I already have most of our future furniture picked out. LOL!
Have a great weekend everyone! There are a few races going on around town this weekend, so good luck to anyone running those...may a new PR be in your future. ;-)
PS. I just have to send out a special thanks to Holden. The other day he said something that stuck with me about the issues I've been having with balancing school, work, pregnancy, house hunting, etc. He said, "Just think, before the year's out, you get to be yourself again" and viola, it hit me! I will have a baby boy, be moved into a new house and finished with school - all by the end of August. There really is a light at the end of the tunnel...and the tunnel, while it feels really long, is actually pretty damn short. Six months! Six months people! Six months and I will have my freakin' life back. I can't wait!

Finally...
I finally made it back to the treadmill after a week hiatus. The run on Friday didn't happen. My 1:30 interview got lost and didn't make it to our office until 2:30, so I didn't have time to head to the park before picking up the kiddo from school.
But, I did get in 35 minutes on the treadmill while watching The Hills finale. Woohoo! I did miss the "exciting, big announcement" afterwards though...if anyone has the scoop, please fill me in!
Workout Stats
35 minutes, treadmill, walking (heartburn was out of control!) - 14:50 pace
